Best Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair and Debris
If you have pets, a robot vacuum that is able to remove pet hair and other debris from all floors is essential. Look for features like reactive obstacles avoidance, app control and scheduled cleanings.
Fur is shed by cats and dogs, which can be spread on hard floors or embedded in carpets. This can be difficult for robots to pick up.
1. Neato D9
The Neato D9 robot cleaner is one of the most advanced available. robot vacuum for dog hair has an onboard camera that maps out the space and then vacuums up and down in a rational manner until it has thoroughly cleaned your floor. This makes it simple to clean up even difficult-to-access areas like under furniture or on stairs. It is also ideal for cleaning dust and pet hair.
The D9 offers a wide coverage area and can clean up to 1,600 square feet of space on one charge, which makes it ideal for homes with medium-sized spaces. It also has a premium brushed black finish that is attractive in any home. The D9 isn't as strong than some of the other robotic vacuums in our tests, but it's still able to remove lots of dirt and debris. Its multi-surface brush, which is shaped like a helix, is 70% larger than the ones found on the majority of round robotic vacuums. This makes it more effective in picking up crumbs and other dirt.
SmartLiDAR navigation is another feature that differentiates D9 apart from other robot cleaners. It utilizes the same technology as self-driving vehicles to map and navigate through your home. This allows the D9 to clean up more efficiently than robots with cameras since it can see more of your home and avoid obstacles in low light.

The app allows you to draw virtual boundaries around specific areas of your home that you don't wish the D9 to clean. The D9 can then either avoid those zones or vacuum them more frequently. It can also spot pet messes on floors and then clean them up.
The D9 can also clean your grout, which is a great feature if you have a vinyl or tile floor in your home. Although it's not as efficient as other robot vacuums when it comes to removing pet hair from carpeted floors, it can do well.
The D9 was able to stay in the same spot while it was cleaning for over three hours, which is better than any other robot vacuum I've tried. However, it did have to return to the charging base once its battery reached 15%.
2. Eufy RoboVac 11S
The Eufy RoboVac 11S robot vacuum is a great option if you are on a budget and need to keep your floors clean. It's among the most affordable robot vacuums available, undercutting even older Eufy models and some machines from lesser-known brands. The 11S is compact and attractive, as well as easy to use and comes with a large dust compartment.
It's got the same basic design of the eufy 30-C we examined last year, but is slimmer and has a slightly larger suction power (2kPa vs. 1.7). Unlike the more expensive Roomba models however, the 11S doesn't have a built-in robot mop or advanced navigation capabilities. It runs an app for smartphones and a remote control to allow you to manually control it.
You can program the 11S to clean specific rooms or the entire home. It also comes with the option of spot cleaning which lets you choose a single area for an intense 2 minutes of intensive vacuuming. Edge cleaning is an important feature that lets you focus on the edges in your space.
The 11S is easy to maintain. It has a large dirt storage container that doesn't need to be regularly emptied, and its battery life is exceptional. It does have a tendency to fall off its charging dock when it's empty, so you'll want to fix the wires around the dock with zip ties. You'll need to inspect your dust bin regularly since there is no indicator that it's empty.
Compared to the eufy 30C The 11S is more durable, has less recurring expenses and has a larger dirt compartment, and is able to remove more dirt from bare floors to carpets with low pile. It is also easier to maintain, and performs better in general cleaning carpets, especially. Its BoostIQ feature automatically shifts between Standard power and Max power settings depending on the surface you are cleaning. Anti-collision sensors keep the 11S from bumping into furniture, and it can be set to automatically return to its original setting when the battery is depleted. It took an hour to charge fully, and has a long runtime.
3. Roomba j7+ from iRobot
iRobot j7 is the smartest vacuum and robot mop available. PrecisionVision navigation allows it to navigate around obstacles and avoid blind spots which other robotic vacuums could get stuck. It also learns about your home and uses that information to improve its cleaning efficiency over time. It can be controlled via the iRobot App and integrates with Alexa or Google Assistant.
We used the j7+ Combo to work on our obstacle course and discovered it to be among the most efficient robots for both bare floors as well as carpets with low pile. Its maneuverability and cleaning patterns are well-organized and it will return to its docking station once completed. Its hazard detection feature is effective at avoiding objects like cords however it could get caught on rug tassels and be unable to climb on high-pile carpets.
The iRobot j7+ also has a self-emptying bin for dust that discharges the contents of its dirt compartment into the charging dock when it is full which reduces the need for hands-on maintenance. The J7+ Combo offers a variety of mopping capabilities, which includes the ability to clean both hard and softer surfaces. The dual rubber brush bars can handle most sticky messes and are flexible enough to keep from getting tangled up in hair either animal or human when cleaning.
The mopping capabilities of iRobot are limited to just a few minutes per surface, but it can provide enough suction to leave your floors looking and smelling amazing. The j7+ is quiet when cleaning and has a decibel range of no more than 64db. It's similar to the sound of a normal phone conversation and lower than other robots.
The j7+ robot isn't a good choice for floors that are bare or fabric with a low pile, however it's a great option for most homes. Its ability to keep pets out of waste and other obstructions makes it a good choice for those who have cats or dogs.
4. Deebot X2 Omni
Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni is a complete robot vacuum and mop that has an elegant low profile and powerful cleaning power and intelligent navigation. It is the first robotic vacuum and mop with dual-laser LiDAR technology integrated into the body. This will allow for faster mapping and more precise cleaning. The X2 also comes with upgraded AIVI 3D 2.0 and TrueMapping 3.0 that combine advanced dynamic obstacle avoidance and path-mapping to provide the complete solution to cleaning all floors. The X2 also comes with pet-friendly AI that recognizes and tracks pets in the household, allowing it to tailor its cleaning program to meet the specific needs of your household.
The X2's unique shape and integrated edge detection sensors permit it to be close to walls and corners. It also cleans flooring that is carpet and hardwood/tile simultaneously, however, unlike other robots which automatically wash their pads with hot water after every use, the X2's rotating pads are soaked at the base with 131°F water. This lets it dry the pads between uses, which prolongs their life and performance.
The X2 is controlled by a free mobile app, which allows users to schedule and plan cleaning sessions. The app is simple to use and user-friendly but it lacks certain advanced features that are found in the other models. While the X2 can clean in a grid however, our tests revealed that it cleaned in a more haphazard manner and that it sometimes missed a pile of dust or coarse dirt right in front of us.
The X2 is easy to manage, returning to its base to empty the dust bin into a removable dust bag and then to automatically wash and dry its mop pad inside the docking station. It's also capable of recognising its charging station and coming back to it to charge, allowing you to keep your home topped with clean power for a period of weeks. Its biggest drawback is its size that makes it difficult to find the right place to charge.
